Obituary for Olive M. Stahl

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Edgewood Vista Chapel, 705 17th Street North, Virginia. Pastor John Dietz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before. Inurnment will be in Eveleth Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials.

Olive M. Stahl, 95, of Virginia, died Thursday, November 10, 2016 at Edgewood Vista Memory Care Unit in Virginia.

She was born on June 30, 1921 in Wrenshall, MN to Roy and Anna (Fuchs) Murphy. She was raised in Becker, MN and graduated from Becker High School in 1939. Olive graduated from St. Cloud Teacher’s College in 1941, UMD in 1971 and finally obtained her Master’s Degree from Bemidji State University in 1979.

She was united in marriage to Charles W. Stahl on October 7, 1950 and they made their home in Virginia. After raising her four children, she went back to teaching as an elementary special education teacher in Virginia, teaching for over 20 years. She was active in the Eveleth Garden Club and the driving force of Camp George E. Siegel on Lake Esquagama for over 60 years.

Olive leaves behind three children, Veronica (John) Johnson of Hoyt Lakes, Daniel (Renae) Stahl and Deborah (Joe) Dolence both of Virginia; brother, Raymond (Bernice) Murphy of Eagan, MN; sister, Joyce Anderson of Rapid City, S.D.; seven grandchildren, Erik (Becky) Johnson of Embarrass, Kristen Johnson of Aurora, Brian (Sarah) Stahl of Embarrass, Michael (Tammy) Stahl of Mt. Iron, Elizabeth Stahl of Virginia, Joseph (Jenny) Dolence of Morris, Stephen (Liz) Dolence of St. Cloud; ten great-grandchildren, Jaden Johnson, Zachary Johnson, Garrett Johnson, Taylor Stahl, Natalie Stahl, Grace Dolence, Joshua Dolence, Charles Dolence, Noah Dolence, Selah Dolence; numerous nieces and nephews, special friends, Leisa and Joe Gunderson and a host of friends that will miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Kenneth J. Ferschweiler in 1947; second husband, Charles W. Stahl in 2004; son, Bruce in 2011; brother-in-law, James Anderson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray and Marjorie Ann Stahl and Donald and Beverly Stahl and a nephew, Russell Stahl.
