Obituary for Nola Lenora Renskers

Nola Lenora Renskers

Saturday, March 10, 2018 was a very special day for me. It was the day I left earth to be with the savior of my life, Jesus Christ, for eternity.

I started out my time on earth as the baby daughter and ninth child of my parents Martin and Myrtle (Skeesuck) Rice on March 11, 1941 in Wadena, Minnesota. My twin brother, Roger (child number 10), showed up on the scene 12 minutes after I did.

My life was a great adventure, and there are several highlights I’d like to share with you. Topping the list is the day I became a follower of Jesus Christ. What a blessing to discover a love that knew no bounds and a peace that ruled my heart. My family, including my children Shane (Sherri) Renskers of Nashwauk and Mitzie (David) Calgaro of Goodland; my grandchildren; Brett (Dana) Lindstrom and Brittany Lindstrom both of Hibbing, Kody (Melissa) Calgaro of Big Lake, Sarah Calgaro of Hibbing; my great-grandchildren, Noah, Elliott and Lyla Calgaro; my step-children, Mary (Darrell) Olson, Timothy (Hope) Renskers, Jane Rost, Jill (Calvin) Brownlee all of Hibbing; and my numerous step-grandchildren have been my life’s greatest joy.

I come from a large, close-knit family where love flowed freely. I truly enjoyed my time with my brothers and sister and my 47 nieces and nephews. Noma Auel of Hibbing, Norm (Lois) Rice of Shakopee, Roger (Doreen) Rice of Hibbing, Raymond (Regina) Rice of Mesa, AZ are still fulfilling their life’s purpose while I am now rejoicing in heaven with those who have gone before me: my parents; my sisters Rosella Woessner, Roseina Rice, Iris Cole, Rosetta Lucas and my brothers, Martin Jr., Marvin Sr. and Mervin Rice. I must also mention here my beloved dog, Tia, who brought such happiness to my life as well as my son’s. I never loved an animal as much as I loved little Tia.

I believe you get the best sense of who a person is by what they have done with their life and what motivated them to do those things. It was a deep sense of accomplishment when I received my high school diploma and my certified nursing assistant certificate. These empowered me to have a long, fulfilling career serving the older generations in assisted living facilities. I am proud to say that I served this community faithfully and with my whole heart.

Music was also an essential part of my life. From large family sing-a-longs to performing with the gospel group, Blaze of Glory, to being a groupie of my favorite band, The Circle of Friends, to singing with my church’s choir, I loved singing and worshipping God with my voice.

Many people have touched my life and I want to say how grateful I am that our lives crossed paths. I must go now, but I want to encourage my family and friends to say prayers of thanksgiving, smile as you recall a good memory of me, celebrate with each other, and then get on with your lives. God has been so good and my life so blessed. And I want this for all of you as well.

My memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at Open Door Church in Hibbing. Pastor Tim Rice will officiate. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2018 at the church and will continue from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday. Inurnment at Maple Hill Cemetery, Hibbing will be at a later date.

All my Love, Nola, Mom, Gma, Grandma Olaf, Auntie Tootie and your dear friend
