Marcia M. Kokal, 83, of Gilbert, died Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at Essentia Health-Virginia. She was born on March 1, 1934 in Eveleth to George and Ina (Harri) Woolcock.

Marcia graduated from Eveleth High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing. She was united in marriage to Gary E. Kokal on September 24, 1955 in Eveleth. Marcia enjoyed working as a nurse and was very involved emotionally as well as physically helping patients recover and be as comfortable as possible. She took her work very seriously and patients were very appreciative of her care. Later, she transferred from nursing to the Eveleth Vocational School of Nursing Program and applied the same attitude there.

In addition to her professional career, Marcia enjoyed being home. Family was always very important to her. All family get togethers were a great joy to her. As well as family, friends were a high priority to her and she enjoyed immensely being with them. In addition to people, she enjoyed knitting and quilting and making some beautiful items. The outdoors were also a great joy to her and she looked forward each spring when the ice melted and she could get to the cabin on Lake Vermilion. Her attitude about life was to help where she could and enjoy living and love each day as it arrived.

She is survived by her husband, Gary; children, Scott (Avis) Kokal of Roseau, Mn, Glen (Snoflake) Kokal of Gilbert, Kelly (Mike) Uren of Negaunee, Michigan; grandchildren, Thomas, Christopher, Kyle, Travis, Amber, Zak, Tanner, Trevor; six great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Kris) Woolcock of Warroad, Mn,; sister, Doris (Louis) Knoll of Virginia and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, George Jr. “Bud” and Thomas.
