Obituary for L.Jeanne Ahlstrand

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Virginia. Pastor Nathan Sager will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Spring burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia.

L. Jeanne Ahlstrand, 94, of Virginia, died Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at St. Michael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Virginia.

Jeanne was born on August 19, 1923 in Eveleth to Arthur and Selma (Niemi) Johnson. She graduated from Eveleth High School and attended Eveleth Junior College. She was united in marriage to Herbert G. Ahlstrand on December 8, 1945 in Eveleth. Jeanne was a homemaker, a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, the Miriam Guild and had been active with Mission sewing, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTA, Eastern Star, Senior Citizens, bowling and Friendship Sewing Club. Her favorite saying and life lesson to everyone was ~Live and Learn~.

She is survived by her children, Sheryl Foxx of Excelsior, MN, Jon (Dorothy) Ahlstrand of Danbury, WI, Jim (Tammie) Ahlstrand of Bloomington, MN, Cindy (Mike) Lind of Virginia, MN; 11 grandchildren, Jenny (Ross) Sundberg, Joe Foxx, Jay (Brandie) Ahlstrand, Jill (Jeff) Samide, Jeff (Desiree) Ahlstrand, Stephanie (Ian Macomber) Ahlstrand, Kyle Ahlstrand, Kevin Ahlstrand, Kody Ahlstrand, Aaron (Nicole) Lind, Ashley (Chad) Laurila; 12 great-grandchildren, Blake, Hunter, Sam, Jack, Jared, Josh, Kenzi, JD, Ella, Aubrey, Kaela, Sophie; sister-in-law, Donna Johnson of Eveleth and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb in 1995; son-in-law, Gerry Foxx, brother, Bruce Johnson and brother and sister-in-law, Art and Louise Johnson.
