Obituary for Jule Mae Erjavec

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 24, 2017 in Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Celebrant will be Fr. Michael Garry. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Inurnment will be in Eveleth Cemetery.

Jule Erjavec, 78 of Eveleth passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 13, 2017 with family present after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born to Leander and Astrid Anderson in Eveleth, MN on December 27, 1938. She was named for “God Jul” or Merry Christmas in Swedish. She grew up in Melrude, MN; graduated from Cotton High School; and completed one year of business school in Duluth. Jule married Ronald Erjavec on September 28, 1957 in Eveleth and enjoyed 59 years together. They owned and operated the R&J Drive Inn for 25 years, working side by side to build the well-known Iron Range business. She was a homemaker, raised six children and adored her grandchildren. Jule loved to read, garden, crochet and spend time at the lake.

Jule was an active member of Catholic Daughters, the Does, KSKJ, MAVA, and the St. Louis County Fair Board. Her love for children guided her activities for life. She was a Cub Scout leader, 4-H leader, prayer partner and volunteered in the Eveleth- Gilbert schools as “Grandma Jule”.

Jule is survived by her husband, Ronald; her children: Bruce, Vicki O’Brien , Roger, Dawn (Kendal) Barchus , Ronald (Barbie) and Toni (Mike) Britton; her 10 grandchildren: Matthew (Molly), Andrew, Stephanie, Kristina, A.J., Theo, Evaline, Jim, Bethany and Davin and 2 great-grandchildren: Finley and Lucy plus 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren Chris, Jeannine (Russell), Melinda (Mychial) and Nate, Dom, Bella, Danni, Gabe and Morgan; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Melvin Anderson; sister, Donna Erjavec Schwanz; niece, Susie Erjavec Clausen; and daughter-in-law, Barb Erjavec.

The family wishes to thank Essentia- East Range Hospice for their support and care of Jule. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, or the St Louis County Fair Board.
