Elsie was born on November 27, 1929 in Gile, Wisconsin the daughter of Italian immigrants, Frank and Johanna (DaRonco) Valle and never forgot the hard work and efforts they made to give her and her siblings the opportunities to be part of the American Dream.

She attended Gile, Montreal and St. Mary’s grade schools in Hurley, Wisconsin and graduated from Hurley High School in 1947. Following high school, Elsie attended St. Scholastica College, graduating from St. Mary’s School of Nursing, as a registered nurse, with the Class of 1951.

In the late 1970’s, she went back to nursing school to update her RN credentials; later working at the Eveleth Fitzgerald Hospital, retiring in 1988.

Elsie was a very involved member of Resurrection Catholic Church. She taught religious education, was on the Pastoral and Liturgy Committees, and was a past member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court St. Margaret #1888. Elsie loved her retirement years chasing walleyes in Canada with her husband, Carl. Their adventures made for great stories and strengthened the love between them that had begun in ninth grade. Elsie also was an avid reader (history) and enjoyed all sports, playing cards, golf, sewing and knitting and the Green Bay Packers. Above all, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
