Obituary for Ella Belle Nelson

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018 at United in Christ Lutheran Church, Eveleth. Pastor John Dietz will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before at the church. Interment will be in Eveleth Cemetery.

Ella B. Nelson, 97, of Eveleth, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at St. Michael’s Health & Rehabilitation Center in Virginia.

She was born on April 29, 1920 in Two Harbors, Minnesota to William and Jennie (Holbeck) Sauve. Ella was a 1939 graduate of Virginia High School and graduate of Duluth Business University. She was united in marriage to Carl W. Nelson on February 8, 1941 in Duluth. Ella had worked at the former Cluett-Peabody Shirt Factory and Sapiro’s Dress Shop in Virginia. She retired as a secretary from Range Mental Health Center. She was a member of United in Christ Lutheran Church and its Martha Circle. She had also been a member and past matron of Eastern Star Eveleth Chapter 214 and member and past guardian of Jobs Daughters Eveleth Bethel #50.

She is survived by a daughter, Roberta Hoff of Fishersville, Virginia; sons, James M. Nelson (Marcia Kauppi) of Virginia and William (Mavis Frolik) Nelson of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren, Liane Kolaskie, Jodi Biehler, Jenny Gonsorowski, Michael Hoff, Amy Zufall, David Haiman, Gus Nelson, Josh Nelson, Jay Nelson, Christine Nelson, Eric Nelson and Steven Nelson; numerous great-grandchildren; step-brother, Galen McKenzie and nephew, Joe Peterson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl W.; daughter, Janet Haiman; daughter-in-law, Mickey Nelson; brother, William “Bill” Sauve and sisters, Doris DeLeo and Loaine Peterson.
