Obituary for Carol Marie Wolk

Carol Marie Wolk, 72, of Britt died and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, November 18, 2016 at Essentia Health-Virginia surrounded by her family. She was born, the 7th child, of Leon S. and Ruth M. (Jackels) Lowe on December 23, 1943 in Wadena, MN. She grew up in southern Minnesota (Westbrook, Storden and Windom) and graduated from Sherburn High School. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at the age of 9 and recommitted her life to the Lord in 1965. Carol worked for M&H Inc. in St. Paul as a bookkeeper. She was united in marriage to Walter W. Wolk on July 13, 1963 in St. Paul. They moved to Eveleth in 1965 and to their Britt country home in 1967. Carol was a wonderful homemaker for many years. During this time, she served as a 4H leader, Cub Scout Den Mother, taught Sunday school and was a youth leader. She was a devoted member of Sand Lake Chapel and for many years was a member of the church board. She volunteered as a teacher’s aide, Meals on Wheels, trained as a hospice volunteer and received her certified nursing assistant license in 1998. Carol also worked for So-fro Fabrics for 8 years and Spectrum Community Health Inc. In later years, she volunteered her time as a bible study leader at the Convalescent Center in Virginia. She enjoyed quilting and sewing for her family and gardening. She was known for her chocolate chip cookies, apple bars and blueberry pie. Carol loved being Grandma Mör Mör.

She is survived by her son, Marc Wolk of Burnsville and his girls, Danielle and Alicia; daughter, Karlene (Tim) Leseman of West Eveleth and their children, Codie (Lindsey), Thor and Autumn; son, William (Jenny) Wolk of Hermantown and their children, Keira, Bridgette, Ezra and Scarlett.; her sisters, LaDella “Dodie” (Burt) Anderson of Mankato and Marybeth Overton of Willmar; brothers, Gene (Eva) Lowe of San Carlos, CA, Donald Lowe of Cottonwood, MN, Frank (Barb) of Littleton, CO, Dean of Kansas, MO, Bill (Judy) of Boulder, CO, Allen of Morrison, CO; sister-in-law, Valentine Shepard of Britt; 17 nieces and nephews; foster sisters, Nelda Keely of Coon Rapids, MN, Jean (Jim) Harberts of Tucson, AZ; foster brothers, Charles (Mary) Griffith of Rawlins, WY and Daniel (Marcy) Griffith of Excelsior. She was loved by many friends and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; parents; brother, Dennis Lowe; sisters, Janice Kirby and Goldie who was an infant and her foster parents, Marvin and Dorothy Griffith.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m., Friday, November 25, 2016 at Sand Lake Chapel in Britt. Pastor Richard Lohry will officiate. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. Following the memorial service, a luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Michael’s On The Course, 1308 18th Street North, Virginia, MN. Inurnment will be in Sand Lake Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Arrangements are entrusted to Cron-Sheehy Funeral Home, Eveleth.
