Geno Marcaccini A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2010 at 12 noon in Resurrection Catholic Church, Eveleth. Con-celebrants will be Fr. Charles Flynn and Fr. Frank Perkovich. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the church. A reception will be held in the church hall following services. Geno and his son, Jerry will be buried when the earth is warm and the sun is shining at the Eveleth Cemetery.
Geno Marcaccini, 85, of Eveleth died January 10, 2010 due to complications of diabetes.
He was born on April 12, 1924 and lived in Eveleth. He was the oldest of six children- Lina, Guido, Joan, Larry and Irene. Geno was educated at Dunwoody Institute and Princeton University. Geno and his brother Guido owned the Italian Bakery and both were members of the Bakery Hall of Fame. During WWII, he was in the submarine corps in the Pacific Theatre. He was a member of Eveleth Elks Lodge #1161 and Frank A. Mancina Council #2583 Knights of Columbus. In later years, he enjoyed golf, curling and volunteered doing taxes. He will be remembered for his business knowledge, sense of humor and generosity.
He is survived by Leona his devoted wife of 61 years and children, Jon (Laura) and Susan. He also left behind the joy of his life, his grandchildren, David, Bobby and Michael and was proud of all their accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Assunta and son, Jerry.
